Affordable + Modern was established to design homes for the Florida lifestyle. Our smaller homes are strikingly contemporary with enviromentally sustainable features. By virtue of the smaller size of our homes use less energy and makes them more affordable. Our homes include insulation and carpets made from recycled materials. Our woods are sourced from sustainable managed forests and renewable sources. We use non toxic calks and adhesives and low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints. Energy savings shall be realized by reducing cooling loads through building orientation, highly efficient low-e windows, maximum insulation, Energy Star rated appliances, efficient heating and cooling systems and LED lamps. Optional green items such as tied to-the-grid electric solar power systems and tankless hot water heaters further reduce the energy costs. Specifying dual flush toilets, under sink flow restrictions, rain water collectors and xersicape landscaping reduces water consumption. We believe this design concept is our future. It is simple, transcendent, timeless, affordable and obvious.
